Everything you need to install, learn and get the most out of Snappling.

Install

Windows. Open the downloaded file and follow the installer. If Windows shows "Windows protected your PC", click More info, then Run anyway. The warning appears because the installer isn't code-signed yet.

Mac. Open the downloaded .dmg and drag Snappling into Applications. If macOS says it can't verify the developer, right-click the app and choose Open.

To check your Windows download, compare its SHA-256 fingerprint:

Getting started

  1. Snappling lives in the tray (bottom-right on Windows, menu bar on Mac). Click its icon for the menu.
  2. Press Ctrl Shift 1, drag over the part of the screen you want and let go. The capture is copied for you.
  3. Click the preview that appears to open the editor, where you can add arrows, boxes, text, blur and numbered steps.
  4. Copy, save, drag it into another app, or share it.

Captures are saved to your Pictures\Snappling folder, and the last ones are always in History.

Sharing

Recording

Press Ctrl Shift 8 to start and stop recording. Afterwards the recording editor lets you trim, speed up, crop and save as MP4 or GIF.

Free recordings are up to 720p at 30 fps, with 5 video exports a month. Pro unlocks Full HD and 4K at 60 fps with unlimited exports. The recording editor is on Windows for now.

Presentation mode

Switch it on from the tray menu, or in Settings › Sound. Snappling then captures silently: no sounds, capture animations, preview effects or toasts. By default it also turns itself on while you present a slideshow or a full-screen app is in front.

Your license

  1. Buy Pro or Pro Max on the pricing page. Your key arrives by email.
  2. In Snappling open Settings › Plan, paste the key and click Activate.
  3. To move it to another computer, click Deactivate on the first one, then activate on the new one.

Pro covers 1 device and Pro Max covers 5. If a key says it is in use on all its devices, deactivate it on a computer you no longer use.

Questions

Where are my screenshots saved?

In Pictures\Snappling by default. Change it in Settings › After capture. Recent captures also appear in History from the tray menu.

A shortcut doesn't work.

Another app may already be using it. Snappling tells you when a hotkey is taken. Pick a different one in Settings › Hotkeys.

The capture looks blurry.

Snappling captures the exact pixels on your screen. If you share it at a larger size it will look soft. Pro can export at 2×, 3× or 4× for sharper results in apps that enlarge images.

Can I turn off the capture sound and animation?

Yes. Turn off the sound in Settings › Sound, pick None under capture animation, or use Presentation mode to silence everything at once.

Does Snappling send my screenshots anywhere?

No, not unless you choose to share or upload. See the privacy page for exactly when the app goes online.

I lost my license key.
